Rapper Heavy D's Death Caused by Pulmonary Embolism

According to TMZ, the L.A. coroner's office ruled that the 44-year-old hip-hop star died from "natural" causes. Specifically, his death was attributed to pulmonary embolism, a blockage of an artery in the lungs caused by blood clots. Apparently the long flight Heavy took home after performing at the Michael Jackson tribute concert in Europe might have been a huge factor.

Heavy D passed away on Nov. 8 of a respiratory failure that officials now know was caused by deep leg vein thrombosis, an ailment that is often associated with the immobility caused by long airplane flights. In the rapper's case, a clot formed in his legs and traveled up to his lungs.
